Sokoto State is located within the Illumeden basin, which is surrounded to the east and south by the
precambrian basement complex. Within the State, there is no outcrop of basement complex. Rather, it is covered by a series of sedimentary rocks, which have been deposited over the basement complex. These sediments were laid down under varied environmental situations ranging from continental to marine events. The sedimentary rocks in Sokoto State have been classified under four major categories.The Sokoto State University Implement Committee, on behalf of theSokoto State Government hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions below at Sokoto State University, Sokoto:
Position: Registrar
Duties:
The Registrar is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University. He shall be the Secretary of Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation and shall keep custody of and administer the University Laws.

Qualifications and Experience:
The candidate must:
• Possess a good honours degree in Humanities (with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division) from a recognized University. Possession of a higher degree will be an advantage.
• Be a seasoned administrator of a tertiary academic environment with at least five (5) years as Deputy Registrar or cognate senior management position.
• Be a Nigerian.
• Be a person with good leadership qualities who can inspire a crop of young administrative officers to be able to get the best out of them
• Have full membership of relevant professional bodies.
• Be focused and innovative and
• Be of excellent physical and mental health.
The candidate must:

The Bursar shall be the Chief Finance Officer of the University. He shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor on matters of financial management.
Qualifications and Experience:
The candidate must:
• Possess a B.Sc degree in Accountancy (with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division) or a chartered accountant or any qualification equivalent to these,
• Be a person who has experience in government bureaucracy or a tertiary institution of not less than 10 years, with at least five (5) years as Deputy Bursar or cognate senior management position

The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive Office of the University. He shall be the link between the Council and Senate and shall be responsible for impending decisions of both Council and Senate. He shall also be competent at all times to advise the Council on any matter affecting the policy, finance and administration of the University. His specific duties shall include maintaining efficiency and orderliness in the University, and ensuring that academic standards are sustained. The Vice-Chancellor shall also maintain good public relations, and manage the University effectively.

• A scholar who will be able to provide the university with academic linkage and international organizations and donor agencies
• A scholar who will be able to attract research grants and complementary funds from local and international organization and donor agencies
• A scholar who is information and Communication Technology (ICT) proficient, committed to the mainstreaming of ICT into University wide programmes and activities
• A scholar who is not likely to foster personal, racial, ethnic, political, religious or other sectional interest and who is also capable of inspiring the members of University community towards the attainment of its goals.
• A scholar who has a good understanding of the Vision and Mission of the University and

The University Librarian shall be the Chief Library Officer of the University. He shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor with functions over the day-to-day management of the University Library.

• Possess who has a first degree in Library Science (with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division). Possession of higher degree in Library Sciences will be an advantage
• A person who has experience in the organization and running of a Library for not less than 5 years, and has served as the Deputy Librarian

Position: Director of Works, Physical Planning and Maintenance
Duties:
The director shall be the Chief Physical Development Officer of the University, with responsibility for maintenance of existing buildings, and construction of new physical structures and facilities in the University.

The Vice-Chancellor shall hold-office for a one-term period of five (5) years. While other officers shall hold office for a renewable two-term periods of five (5) years each subject to the approval of the Governing Council.
