The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the following positions at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan.
RECRUITMENT OFFICER (2-YEAR RENEWABLE CONTRACT)
DUTIES
Recruitment Officer will among other things:
Attend to requests for recruitment of National Staff.
Prepare draft job advertisements and advise the Personnel Manager on mode of advertisement.
Carry out preliminary screening/short listing of candidates for interview.
Prepare interview invitation letters to applicants (as approved by the Personnel Manager) and follow up.
Arrange interviews, prepare interview reports; and prepare offer letters to successful candidates.
Ensure conditions precedent to employment and post employment documentations are met.
Prepare monthly recruitment statistics/reports.
Conduct initial orientation of new recruits in the General and Senior Staff categories.
Constantly explore ways of carry out efficient and cost effective talent hunt and staffing functions.
Prepare recruitment and interview updates for the Personnel Manager and Human Resources Manager.
Manage temporary labour recruitment and maintain labour records.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
BSc/HND in Business or Management or Human Resource related discipline. A Professional Certificate of CIPM, MBA or any other recognized HR certification is added advantage.
Minimum of 8 years relevant working experience in the management of recruitment of large organization.
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be personable and have very high integrity.

The International institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the following positions at the Institute’s Kano Station and Headquarters, Ibadan.
RESEARCH SUPERVISOR (Pathology) (18 months renewable Contract)
DUTIES:
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
Assist with coordinating activities in the laboratory;
Conduct laboratory, screen-house and field experiments with scientists;
Assist with culture/isolate storage appropriately;
Conduct sampling, surveys, interpret result;
Prepare draft standard operating protocols for laboratory methods with scientists;
Provide assistance. Guidance to visiting students/Scientists;
Assist with ensuring proper data entry in laboratory books;
Assist with preparing draft reports on time;
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
BSc/HND in Microbiology/Plant Pathology/Crop Protection plus at least four (4) years post-qualification working experience in a research institution.
The ideal candidate must:
Be hardworking honest and trustworthy
Ability to build, coordinate and be a good team player;
Possess very good interpersonal relations, organisational and communication skills;
Candidate should be computer literate in MS Office packages;
Possess a valid Drivers’ license and ready to travel when necessary
Be able to work under pressure, outside office hours and on weekends where necessary.
RESEARCH TECHNICIANS (Pathology) (3 positions) ( 18 months renewable Contract)
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
ND in Science Laboratory Technology plus at least three (3) years post-qualification working experience in a research institution.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word Packages will be an added advantage.
The ideal candidate must:
Be able to work independently;
Be a good team player and be able to follow instructions;
Possess good organisation skills;
Be able to work under pressure, and willing to work outside work hours where necessary.
RESEARCH TECHNICIANS I (Maize) (2-year renewable Contract)
DUTIES
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following:
• Compile list of nutrient enriched hybrids and inbred lines and take stock of seeds available in the cold store
• Participate in the preparation, packaging and dispatch of local, regional and international trials involving nutrient enriched varieties, hybrids and inbred lines
• Arrange nutrient enriched breeding materials in the cold stores in good order to facilitate easy retrieval during seed preparation
• Prepare requested seeds of nutrient enriched parental lines of hybrid, synthetics and other genetic materials for shipment to partners, research institutions and advanced research laboratories
• Supervise casual labor during seed preparation, planting, pollination and harvesting.
• Ensure protection of seed production fields and making sure they are free from weeds
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Senior Research Technician, Research Associate and the Scientist.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
ND in Agriculture and at least four (4) years working experience in similar research areas.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently and should be able to work extra hours.

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals to fill the vacancy at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan.
jobs Title: Project Administrative Assistant (2-year renewable Contract)
Responsibilities:
Assist Head, Contracts and Grants with day-to-day project administration;
Maintain an electronic filing and archive system of project related documents;
Assist in drafting, negotiating/ finalizing Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs)
Monitor project close-out by checking closing out procedures and inform Finance Office and Project Administrator of these
Assist Partner with communication on their technical reporting requirement; Material Transfer Agreements and other IP-related issues;
Retrieve information from both paper files and database to resolve queries.
Ensure that the database is kept up to date with accurate data, reports and other project documents, by forwarding relevant information and documents to the relevant staff in Contract and Grants Office (CGO)
Perform any other assigned duties by the Supervisor
Qualification/Experience
Candidates should have B.Sc or HND Business Administration. Postgraduate degree and Professional qualifications are added advantage.
Minimum of five (5) years post-qualification working experience is required.
He/She will also be required to have very strong oral and written communication skills especially in English language and have excellent interpersonal skills. In addition, candidates must be highly computer literate using database software.
